THE GREATEST AMERICAN CLEANUP
Enhance your community’s beauty.
Transforming Public Places into Beautiful Spaces
Each spring, volunteer groups join hands to engage in the nation’s largest community improvement program. During this time, we coordinate hundreds of litter pickups, recycling drives, educational workshops, and a wide variety of beautification activities.
Currently, we're participating in Keep America Beautiful’s efforts to remove 25 billion pieces of litter from our parks, waterways, and public spaces by July 4, 2026 to celebrate our country’s 250th birthday. But that’s just part of the picture! Recycling activities, gardening projects, and tree plantings are all ways we’re making our state greener and more vibrant. Every event on the list below counts toward this shared goal. Will you join us and help make this vision a reality? With your help, we can create lasting change in Georgia and beyond.
Are you ready to get started?
We’d love to have you as a volunteer! This year’s events will take place from March 20 through June 21, and you can browse the list below to find one taking place near you.
Impact by the numbers
In 2024, 18,144 volunteers from 44 communities engaged in 863 events. Altogether, we cleaned 2,534 miles of streets, roadsides, and waterways and 20,529 acres of parks and other green spaces, collecting 662,464 pounds of litter. We recycled over 1 million pounds of materials, including over 258,379 pounds of hard-to-recycle materials, over 113,120 pounds of household hazardous waste, and over 78 tons of tires. We also planted 5,687 trees, flowers and shrubs.
Many thanks go out to the companies and organizations that make the Greatest American Cleanup possible.
